Pesticide Information

At Shorb, we are stewards of the environment. When using chemical treatments, we take a "light touch" approach, using products that are safe and effective, while also adhering to local regulatory requirements.

Stewards of Your Landscape

A pesticide is any material that kills, deters, or alters the growth of a pest. A pest can be an insect, a weed, fungus, etc. Materials that specifically control these pests are further identified as Insecticides, Herbicides, Fungicides respectively. Accordingly, a fungicide is a type of pesticide, as is an insecticide.

At Shorb Landscaping, we use pesticides in a thoughtful, judicious manner. Very rarely, if ever, do we “blanket spray” for pests. Rather, we will always attempt to use the least toxic material, at the best point of a pest’s development stage to reduce the amount of material used. Over the years, we have learned that a well-timed, strategic application, will provide the best results.

As stewards of your landscape and the environment in general, we do not think that “total eradication” of pests is usually the best approach; we attempt to control pests to a “tolerable threshold”. In our opinion, this strategy is the best way to balance an aesthetically pleasing garden, with a healthy landscape.
